JUSTICE was inspired by the real-life experiences of writer/director/producer
Jeanne-Marie Almonor. Ms. Almonor grew up in inner-city Brooklyn,
went to Harvard Law School, and joined a corporate law firm. After
a few years, she quit the firm to become a civil rights lawyer, joining
the front lines in the battle for social and economic justice. Ms.
Almonor made JUSTICE to expose the truth about the American criminal
justice system, where racial disparities in arrest rates, charges,
convictions and incarceration have put 1 in 10 African-American men
aged 25-29 in prison (compared to 1 in 100 white men). |
